Ardys Stanfield Goodman, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Affectionate Care Assisted Living in Richmond, Texas. Born on January 11, 1947, in Kirkwood, Missouri, Ardys was a beacon of love and light in the lives of all who knew her.
Ardys graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1964 and furthered her education at Southeast Missouri State College (S.E.M.O.). She married her beloved husband, William Max Goodman, on February 25, 1967, in her hometown of Kirkwood. Together, they built a life filled with adventure and joy, traveling to 61 countries, making friends wherever they went and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Ardys was not only dedicated to her family but also to her work, serving as the office manager and bookkeeper for her husband's business.
Her vibrant spirit shone brightly through her many accomplishments. Ardys was known for her remarkable achievements, including being the first runner-up in the Mrs. Kirkwood Beauty Contest and making history as the first woman to race a motorcycle in the All Male Singapore Sprint. She also devoted countless hours as her daughters Brownie leader, a dance coordinator, and a team mom for her sons' teen baseball team, embodying the essence of community involvement. Throughout her life, Ardys cherished her weekly tole painting sessions with friends for over 40 years, reveling in the creativity and companionship they brought. Ardys had a strong relationship with Jesus that was enhanced by the ladies at her church. Her faith helped guide her through all of life’s journeys.
Ardys took immense pride in her family, who survive her: her loving husband, William Max Goodman; her children, Bill Goodman (Justene) of Katy, Texas, and Nicole Wilbanks (Danny) of Richmond; her grandchildren, Jessey Goodman (Olivia), Sumer Goodman, Max Wilbanks, and Skye Wilbanks; and her great-grandchildren, Rowan Goodman and a baby girl due in March. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Nehls family, Terry and Nina and their children Tanner, Teagan and Taleah. Each member of her family held a special place in her heart, and she was a steadfast source of support and love for all of them.
She was predeceased by her parents, June Reith and Gordon Stanfield. Her mothers influence and guidance shaped her loving and spirited character.
Ardys Goodman will be remembered for her commitment to her family, her zest for life, and her unyielding strength. The legacy of her love will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
