Barbara Jane (Hail) Share Truitt, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, in Katy, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born on January 28, 1940, in Houston, Texas, the treasured daughter of George and Bennie (Tilley) Hail.
Barbara’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with devotion to family, steadfast friendships, and service to her community. Growing up in Houston with her brother, George M. Hail, Jr., Barbara shined in all she did. She attended Texas Tech University, where her vibrant spirit was seen not only in her studies but on the field as a twirler, reflecting a joyful grace that would characterize her life. She later graduated from Sam Houston State University, continuing to further her education and thirst for knowledge.
In 1973, Barbara moved to Bellville, Texas, embarking on a new chapter filled with purpose and dedication. She began teaching Kindergarten in Bellville in 1976, shaping the lives of countless students with her gentle guidance and encouragement. Her impact was lasting and meaningful, leaving a legacy of compassion and inspiration throughout the community. After 29 years of nurturing young minds, Barbara retired in 2005, remembered fondly by colleagues and students alike.
Barbara’s faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was an active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, where her warmth and quiet leadership touched many hearts. Her kindness and strength were constants for her family and friends, and she brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Barbara was widowed twice, first by her loving husband John Share, Sr., and then by Gery Truitt. She is predeceased by them, as well as by her parents, George and Bennie Hail, and her brother, George M. Hail, Jr.She is survived by her devoted sons, Dr. John B. Share, Jr., and partner Chuck Brown, and Robert C. Share and wife Deanna Share, who carry forward her values and spirit. Her grandsons—Robert Dean Share, Nathan Austin Share and wife Dr. Abby Share, and Ryan Michael Share and wife Katie Share—were the light of her life, each holding a special place in her heart. Barbara’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Reagan, and Austin Share, whose laughter and hope will be a living tribute to her memory.
Barbara’s journey touched many lives, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her story is one of quiet strength, unwavering love, and gentle grace—a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Peggy Short, Lura Charpiot, and countless friends who assisted Barbara in her later years.
