Charlotte Slocum Leissner

Charlotte Faye Slocum Leissner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Bellville, Texas. Born on June 17, 1953, in Watertown, New York, while her dad was stationed there in the military service. Charlotte was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Slocum and Gloria Dale Ottwell Slocum. She grew up in Houston, Texas, where she developed a lifelong passion for animals, spiritual growth, and family. 

On November 7, 1975, Charlotte married Vernon Allison “Al” Leissner in Houston. Together, they built a loving family that remains close-knit and strong. She is survived by her devoted husband, Al Leissner of Bellville; her daughter, Amber Leissner of Houston; her sons, Lance Leissner of Houston and Lee Leissner with his wife, Amanda, of Fulshear; and her grandchildren, Linley and Rylyn. 

Charlotte attained her bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Houston and dedicated much of her life to inspiring young minds and hearts as a committed school teacher and Sunday school teacher. Her impact on her students and colleagues was profound, reflecting her spirit and love of learning. Beyond the classroom, she was a woman of varied interests and talents. She was an accomplished equestrian, a master gardener, loved participating in Bible study groups, and was known for her heartfelt singing in the church choir. 

Her affection for horses, as well as all animals large and small, was well-known. She especially enjoyed her home in Burleigh Plantation, often referring to it as “living at the end of the rainbow”. Charlotte was the proud owner of Gypsy Meadows, where her love for horses flourished. These activities brought her great joy and a deep sense of peace. Above all, Charlotte treasured her family, especially the precious moments spent with her grandchildren, Linley and Rylyn.

Charlotte’s legacy is one of love, care, and unshakable faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. May her spirit find eternal peace, and her memory be a blessing to her family and friends.
