Chester Richard Hollon, Jr. passed away on September 19, 2026, in Bellville, Texas. He was born on March 23, 1950, in Baytown, Texas, the son of Chester and Dorothy Hollon.
Chester grew up in East Texas and later made his home in Bellville. On April 14, 1979, he married Betty Benkowski in Bellville, beginning a marriage and family life that remained at the center of his years there.
Music was an important part of Chester’s life. Throughout the years, he played bass guitar with several bands, including The Baron’s, the Hayslip Brothers, and the Texas Twisters. He will be remembered for the enjoyment he found in making music and in sharing that gift with others.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his sons, Garrett and his wife, Kayla, and Jon and his wife, Michelle; and his grandchildren, Hank, Hallie, and Lily. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Richard Hollon, Sr., and his mother, Dorothy Burrows Hollon.
Chester also shared many happy times with his fishing buddies, especially on the early morning fishing trips that so often ended with a delicious fish fry. His family offers their heartfelt thanks to all of those friends for the fellowship, memories, and good times they shared with him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
