Clifton "Buddy" W. Brockett, a man whose life was marked by adventure, dedication, and unwavering love for family and community, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in Bellville, Texas. Born on February 12, 1939, in Ralls, Texas, Buddy’s journey through life was full of rich experiences and cherished memories that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Buddy’s early years in Petersburg laid the foundation for a life characterized by exploration and movement. Although he lived in Freona at times, his restless spirit led him to travel frequently, whether for work or leisure. His service in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 was a formative chapter, instilling in him a strong sense of discipline and commitment that he carried into his later career as maintenance manager at Industrial Disposal Supplies.

Known for his lively personality and infectious humor, Buddy was a true jokester who ensured laughter and joy wherever he went. His flair for fun was legendary — from doing donuts on football fields to daringly driving his car on train tracks. One of his more remarkable feats was building a six-foot unicycle that he rode with his son John perched on his shoulders, a testament to both his engineering skill and playful nature. A skilled operator of motorcycles and former school bus driver for Bellville, Buddy also took great pride in driving the Brahmadoras, an affectionately cherished role in his community.

Beyond his mechanical talents—he could fix any machine and craft anything from wood for his family—Buddy was a man of artistic and musical talents. He loved playing the banjo and was a fixture at Bluegrass Festivals and tractor pulls, places where his passion and zest for life shone brightly. His devotion to his faith was heartfelt in the Church of Christ. An accomplished aviator, Buddy held a pilot’s license, further demonstrating his adventurous spirit.

Perhaps one of his proudest accomplishments was his marriage to his loving wife Carolyn Hartsell Brockett on December 5, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas. Their enduring partnership was a cornerstone of his life. Together, they nurtured a family whose bonds remained strong and loving. He is survived by Carolyn; his son John Brockett and daughter-in-law Tamera of Magnolia; his daughters Kim, and Tiffany Griffin and son-in-law Charles of Bellville; grandchildren Blythe Welsh (Wendall) and Johna Gilson of Livingston; and great-grandchildren Cheyenne Brockett, Jaiden Gilson, Lewis Griffin, Samuel Griffin, along with many other dearly loved and valued family members.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Brockett Sr. and Emma Belle Perryman Brockett, and his brothers Johnnie and Melvin, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.

Among his many legacies, Buddy’s restoration and transformation of a 1984 RST into a mobile home stands out as a symbol of his dedication to family and love of travel, providing his loved ones with a unique space to create lasting memories together.
