Cozette Terrell Watson

Mar 31, 1936 — Jul 19, 2026

Cozette Terrell Watson, 90, of Cat Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.

Born on March 31, 1936, in Chandler, Texas, Cozette was the daughter of Steve and Laverne Terrell. She was one of seven children and graduated from Chandler High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, she moved to San Antonio to work for Southwestern Bell and to live with her three older sisters. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jerry Watson, beginning a marriage that would span 71 years.

Cozette and Jerry were married in 1955 and built a beautiful and full life. Together they raised four children, welcomed seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and created countless memories. Over the years, they made their homes in San Antonio, El Paso, Monahans, Midland, College Station, Richardson, Plano, Houston, and finally Cat Spring, where they found their forever home.

Throughout her life, Cozette enjoyed a career that included drafting, real estate, and small business ownership. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing anything outdoors. She found joy in creating with her hands, whether through painting, gardening, or floral design, a talent she shared with her mother and sisters. She was also practical and had an uncanny ability to solve almost any household or mechanical challenge, drawing on a lifetime of experience, to the delight and amazement of Jerry and the kids. She held a deep compassion for others and a generous heart.

In 1987, Cozette and Jerry purchased property west of Houston, in Cat Spring, and built not only a home, but a life filled with purpose, family, and friendship. Their Cat Spring property became the heart of family gatherings, where weekends were spent sharing meals, celebrating milestones, tending the vineyard and blueberry farm, and making memories that will be cherished by her loved ones. Nothing brought Cozette greater happiness than having her children and grandchildren nearby, and she considered it one of life's greatest blessings that they remained so close.

Cozette is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jerry Watson of Cat Spring, Texas; her children and their spouses, Mark and Karen Watson, Dana and Darrell Brooks, and Lee and Roger Gremillion; her grandchildren and their spouses, Will and Genesis Brooks, Lyndsey Watson and Shartul Zewutsang, Brian and Marley Brooks, Gus Gremillion, Ben and Sarah Gremillion, Terrell Watson, and Mack Watson; and her great-grandsons, Gyurme Watson and Miles Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Steven Allan Watson. Parents, Laverne and Steve Terrell, siblings Janette Collard, JoRene Cyr, Peggy Marks, Tony Terrell, June Grabowski, and Terry Terrell.

Cozette will be remembered for her quiet strength and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to thank her dedicated caregivers, Christy Leal, Kim Ashton, and Edna Jeter, for years of dedication, love, and support to both Cozette and Jerry.
