Delton Gus Wendt, a lifelong resident of Bellville, Texas, passed away on April 20, 2026. Born on July 7, 1929, in Bellville,
Delton was the beloved son of Gus and Gertrude Holtz Wendt. His life was marked by dedication to his family, his craft, and his community, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Delton’s career as a tractor mechanic spanned many years, during which he skillfully served at John Deere and Virnau Tractor in Sealy. His expert knowledge and diligent work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Outside of his professional life, Delton was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing, pastimes that brought him great joy and camaraderie. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, a game that often filled his home with laughter and friendly competition. His memberships in the NRA and the Bellville Shooting Club reflected his deep connection to the shooting sports and the local community.
On June 18, 1949, Delton married Margie Berting in Bellville. Their partnership was a cornerstone of his life until her passing.
He was also preceded in death by their daughter, Patsy Rutta, his brother Earl Wendt, and his great-grandchild, Dutch.
Delton is survived by his daughters Peggy (Odis) Pfeiffer of West Point and Pamela (Doyle) Muske of Latcham. He took great pride in his grandchildren: Odis (Stacey) Pfeiffer of West Point, Steven (Ronda) Pfeiffer of Bellville, Jared Rutta of Columbus, Jordan Muske of Columbus, and Jeremy Muske of Wesley. His legacy extends to his great-grandchildren Brady, Tyler, Calen, Katlyn, Ashley, and Trent, who were a continual source of joy and pride. Delton Gus Wendt’s steadfast commitment to his family, his craft, and his community defines a legacy of integrity, warmth, and dedication. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
