Detric Dean Phillips, a cherished young man from Bellville, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2025, at the age of 25. Born on December 21, 1999, in Bryan, Texas. Detric was the beloved son of Christy Willingham and Randy Phillips, the loving and protective brother to Delanie Phillips and George Duran, and adoring uncle to Attikus Duran.
Detric also leaves behind his girlfriend, Brittney Parker. A proud graduate of Bellville High School, Class of 2019, Detric embarked on a career that reflected his steadfast work ethic and commitment to serving his community. He first found employment as a stocker at Brookshire Bros., a local grocery store in his small town. His ambition led him to later work as a merchandiser for Coca-Cola in Katy, where he continued to shine bright in his professional endeavors. Detric was well-known for his carefree demeanor and infectious laughter, often surprising friends and family with his humor and playful spirit. He loved joking around and had a unique ability to make those around him feel special and valued. He loved his friends and family dearly, which was demonstrated by his sweet hugs and generosity. A passionate aficionado of anime books and movies, he found joy in sharing his interests with others and spreading happiness through laughter. The impact of Detric's life is evident in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is deeply mourned by his loving family, including his maternal grandparents, Jamie Willingham and Leon Willingham; paternal grandparents Linard and Vera Phillips; and maternal great-grandmother, Billie Grounds. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who loved him dearly. Among them are Godparents, Kenneth and Melanie Willingham; Brian and Holly White; LaShawn Phillips, Kathy Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Leviticus Phillips, Linard Phillips, Jr., and Joanna Phillips. He will also be dearly missed by a host of cousins: Kyle Willingham, Travis Willingham, Matthew Willingham, Reagan White, Weston White, Malasha, Daphney, Keiandre, Traevon, Jaquan, Da Travious, Deona, Jamarious, Dezani, Jasmine, Amber, Charlee, Ariyanah, Amecia, Arushaw, Jr., Dezariah, Leviticus, Silas, Lucius, Naomi, Lydia, Ruben, Samaria, Dontay, and Andrew.
Detric is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, James Grounds, paternal grandmother, Clara Phillips, maternal grandmother, Vernice Thompson, and cousins, London, Kolin, and Roman.
Detric's legacy will be honored during visitation at Bellville Methodist Church located at 234 South Masonic, Bellville, Texas, on July 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. He will be interred at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery located at 2565 Pilgrims Rest Road, Bellville, Texas.
In a small, quiet town that has lost a great kid, Detric Dean Phillips will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. His passion for making everyone feel loved and important will continue to resonate through the lives he touched.
