Brookshire

Fred Martin Streckfuss, a lifetime member of the community, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Brookshire, Texas. He was born on February 14, 1951, in Tyler, Texas.

Fred pursued his passion for nature by attending Sam Houston State University, where he studied horticulture, equipping him with knowledge that complemented his love of gardening later in life. Professionally, Fred was a proud entrepreneur, owning and operating his own carpentry and cabinet-making company.

Beyond his work, Fred found joy and solace in fishing, hunting—particularly ducks and deer—and gardening, activities through which he connected with the natural world he cherished. He also devoted significant time to giving back to his community, proudly volunteering for the Brookshire Fire Department.

Fred is survived by his brother, John Streckfuss of Bellville; his sisters, Betty McCormick (Ricky) of Brookshire and Anita Bruck (Mike) of Lowry Crossing; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews: Emma Peterson (Cheyenne) of Brookshire, Candice McCormick (Luke Duclot-Bernhardt) of Brookshire, Audrey Jones (Derrick) of Bellville, Madison Streckfuss (Collin Leahy, fiancé) of Houston, Annie Bruck of McKinney, Ella Bruck of Allen, and Hannah Bruck of Austin. His nephew, Adam Bruck, also resides in Lowry Crossing, Texas. Fred’s family legacy extends warmly to his great-nieces Lydia Jones, Amelia Jones, and Evelyn Duclot-Bernhardt, and great-nephew Vincent Duclot-Bernhardt.

He was predeceased by both parents, Ralph and Evelyn Moore Streckfuss, as well as his sister-in-law, Linda Streckfuss.

A graveside service will be held on June 5, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Millheim Cemetery, located on Cemetery Road in Sealy, Texas. Family, friends, and all who knew Fred are invited to attend.

Pallbearers serving include Cheyenne Peterson, Luke Duclot-Barnhardt, Derrick Jones, Collin Leahy, Adam Bruck and Michael Baker Jr.

Fred Martin Streckfuss will be remembered as a cherished family member. His legacy endures in the work of his hands and the hearts of those who loved him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Emma Peterson and Choice Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Fred. Their kindness, dedication, and support brought comfort to both Fred and his family during a difficult time.
