Obituary

Helen Theresa Dunn passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 at 92 years of age in Katy, TX. She was born on October 9th, 1933 and raised into a big and loving family with 4 other siblings in Beaumont, TX. She was raised Catholic, attending and graduating from Saint Anthony’s High School, an all girl Catholic school in 1952. While there, she was the treasurer of the Clique Club, a civic, scholastic and social organization. She was frequently nominated by her peers to represent her school as a homecoming queen or high school sweetheart. Upon graduating, she would continue taking classes and become an X-Ray technician interning for St. Therese Hospital.

Seeking a career change, she moved to Houston where on a blind date, she would meet the love of her life and husband of 44 years, John Richard Dunn. She lived a happy and full life with John, raising two stepchildren as her own, living in Sugar Land, Plano, and finally retiring in Fulshear, TX. Weston Lakes is where she called home for 31 years.

Helen loved taking care of her home she built with John. You could find her gardening, feeding the squirrels and ducks, and tending to her house. She loved taking care of her dogs, J.R., Annie and Grover. Helen was an amazing cook who prided herself on keeping a country home. The neighborhood kids would always show up at her house knowing she would have pancakes or sweets to share. She was surrounded by many friends and families in her community and her faith was very important to her. You could always find her reading from the Bible or Daily Word and spreading the message whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Helen was kind, caring, loving, and supportive. She was affectionally referred to as Aunt Hazel and Ms. Helen. There are countless fond memories of family and friends together. Helen is survived by her two sons: John Dunn of Fulshear, TX and Carlton Dunn of Fort Myers, FL her sisters, Margaret Gonzalez of Beaumont, TX and Mary LeBlanc of Galveston, TX, three grandsons, Patrick Dunn, William Dunn, and James Dunn, as well as 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Gertrude Durham, her beloved husband, John Richard Dunn and her two brothers Donald “Bubba” Durham and Gene Durham.
