Helen Louise Williams

Nov 17, 1940 — May 2, 2026

Katy, Texas

Helen Louise Reue Williams passed away on May 2, 2026 at a Katy hospital. She was born November 17, 1940 in Washington County, TX to Henry Reue and Agnes Krause Reue. She graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1959. In November of 1959, she married William Don “Billy Don” Williams of Brookshire, TX, a union which lasted more than 61 years.

Helen served as the first Christian Education Director at First United Methodist Church, Katy, where she was instrumental in starting that church’s Little Peoples School preschool. She then served as the first Christian Education Director at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Katy and the staff Program Director at First United Methodist Church, Sugar Land. During those years of service to Christian Education, Helen was known as a gifted and beloved teacher to many as well as a guide and mentor to many other Christian Educators. She was active in the Texas Annual Conference Christian Educators Fellowship and, after her retirement, became active and served in leadership roles of the local United Methodist Women chapter at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church as well as the Southwest District United Methodist Women group. In the Texas Annual Conference, Helen served on the initial planning team for the beginnings of UM Army as well as the first planning team for the Greater Houston Leadership School, a Houston area laity training annual event.

She was an avid reader and note-taker and that love of reading brought a great depth to her teaching in the church. Helen was certified as a Christian Educator in a four-year program through Perkins School of Theology, Dallas. In the last few years, she returned her membership to Katy FUMC, where she enjoyed rejoining the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class, which she and Billy Don had helped start many years ago when they were a young couple in that church.

Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Don, and her infant son Reggie as well as her parents, Henry and Agnes Reue and her sister Grace Reue Blakeney. Also preceding her in death are her in-laws, Lester and Ruth Stockdick Williams, to whom she was very close. She is survived by her daughter Rev. Shelli Williams of Katy, her son Donnie Williams and wife Sara of Pattison, and her brother Glenn Reue and his wife Cindy of Joshua, along with a large extended family and a host of friends.

Helen leaves a heritage of unending faith and devotion to her family. She imparted her love of reading and learning to her family and those around her, leaving that as a lasting learning legacy. She also leaves a model of volunteering to help others in need and a deep love for all of God’s creatures, especially the host of family dogs through the years and, in particular, her loving dog, Meena, who served as a wonderful companion during most of her last years.
