Hollis Herff Ulbricht, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated community member, passed away on June 28, 2025, at the age of 80 in Pattison, Texas. Born on March 28, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Hollis grew up in Seguin, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Seguin High School.
On April 15, 1967, Hollis married Patsy Pape Ulbricht, and together they built a life filled with love and commitment. Hollis was a proud US Navy Sailor, serving his country from February 1965 to February 1967, an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and community involvement.
As a founding member of the Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department, Hollis dedicated much of his life to public service. He was actively involved in numerous boards, including the Waller County EMS Board, Katy Area Vehicle Rescue School Board, Pattison Water District Board, San Bernard Electric Advisory Board, and the Waller-Harris ESD #200 Board. His contributions to these organizations reflect his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his community.
Hollis had a deep passion for working in his shop and generously volunteered his time to help others. His interests went beyond just work; he cherished his family and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with them. Hollis is survived by his wife, Patsy; son, Hollis (Dawn) Ulbricht; daughter, Tammy (Brian) Ulbricht Diezi; sister, Penny (Arnold) Gray; grandchildren, Shaun Thomas Warfield, Hollis Andrew Ulbricht, Hanna Rose Ulbricht, Brianna Morgan Diezi, Arick (Meagan) Diezi, Sean (Timberly) Palumbo; as well as great-grandchildren, Paisley Palumbo, Kaleb, and Parker Diezi. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews who held him dear.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hilmar August "Lefty" Ulbricht, and his mother, Mary E "Bess" Moore Ulbricht.
Hollis will be lovingly remembered in a visitation scheduled for July 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire, Texas. A funeral service will take place the following day, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department, followed by a burial at Pattison Methodist Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
His legacy of service, love for family, and dedication to his community will continue to inspire all who knew him.
