James "Jim/Zak" Henry Fronczak, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, on January 14, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on March 23, 1955, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Jim was the cherished son of Henry Chester and Christine Frances (Strach) Fronczak.
Jim grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan, and later moved to Texas where he developed a passion for all sports. He soon became a Houston Astros fan and enjoyed hockey and playing golf and pool. He was known for his love of poker games, gambling on teams, and tending to his gardening. His enthusiasm extended to cooking and bird watching, and was an avid coin and sports card collector, and had a special affection for rock concerts, often spending time backstage with various musicians. Jim was known for his enthusiasm, when you mentioned anything about sports, but when his children and grandchildren had sporting events, he was there cheering the loudest. No matter what the score was at the end, his children and grandchildren knew he would be there to give the best word of encouragement and congratulations. They always knew he was their biggest fan!
On December 19, 1997, Jim married the love of his life, Vanessa Claunch, in Sealy, Texas. Their union brought forth a family that he adored deeply. Jim's greatest joy was being a dad to his children: Sarah Rogers, Hailey (Scott) Quinton, and James Hunter Fronczak. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Tristan Rogers, Carter Rogers, and Meranda Johnson, as well as a great granddad to Jordan Campbell.
Jim was a man of quiet strength and enduring love. The most meaningful part of his life was his role as a family man. He cherished every moment he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. The happiness he felt when his children and grandchildren visited was immeasurable. His face would light up every time they entered the room.
He was employed with Stewart & Stevenson for ten years. Jim found that test driving Army trucks as part of his job was something he looked forward to daily. Later, he decided to change his career, where he began working for Grundfos Pumps in Brookshire. Retiring after fifteen years of service.
In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his brother, Thomas Fronczak, along with other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He is predeceased by his parents, Henry Chester and Christine Frances Fronczak, as well as his sisters, Susan Smith and Kathleen Sparks.
Jim Fronczak will be remembered not only for his lively spirit and humor but also for the love and joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of devotion to family and passion for life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Pallbearers are Scott Quinton, John Taylor Weeber, Brandon Cloud, Adrian Cloud, Mark Konvicka, Eddie Woodard, Reyes Hernandez, and Kirk Cryan.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Claunch, and Robert Lancon.
