Jose Chavez

Jose Chavez, a beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the Houston community, passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 25, 1962, in Monterrey, Mexico, to the late Jose and Irene Gonzalez Chavez. 

Jose’s life was marked by deep devotion to his family and his unwavering faith. On May 2, 1986, he married Paula Arriaga in Monterrey, Mexico, beginning a journey of love and partnership that endured for four decades. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, resilience, and kindness. 

Jose was the proud father of four children: Edgar, Edith, Edna, and Edson Chavez. He raised his children with integrity, compassion, and dedication. His guidance and support have shaped their lives, and his enduring example remains a source of inspiration for his family. 

He was also a committed member of Castillo Del Rey Church, where his faith was both a personal touchstone and a guiding force in his daily life. Jose’s involvement in his spiritual community was characterized by humility, generosity, and a willingness to help others. He was a big part of the soccer community all around the area. He dedicated himself to coaching different teams throughout the years. Jose is survived by his loving wife, Paula Arriaga; his sons, Edgar (Sandy) and Edson Chavez; and his daughters, Edith and Edna Chavez. He was predeceased by his parents, Jose Gonzalez Chavez and Irene Gonzalez Chavez, whose memory he honored. 

Jose’s family, friends, and all who knew him remember him for his steadfastness, kindness, and uplifting spirit. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his children and the memories lovingly treasured by those close to him.
