Kitty Sharon (Newman) Montgomery

With heavy hearts, we announce the Homegoing of Kitty Sharon (Newman) Montgomery, who transcended this life on August 14, 2026. Born on July 22, 1947, Kitty's journey through the years was marked by profound love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. 

Kitty was the cherished daughter of Felix and Lorene Enloe Newman. Their care and guidance helped shape the lady she became—one known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, tenacity, and ability to light up every room she entered. Throughout her life, Kitty remained deeply rooted in the Biblical values her parents instilled in her, valuing the ties of family and the comfort of community. 

One of the most defining moments of Kitty’s life was her marriage to John Montgomery. Together, Kitty and John crafted a life filled with loyalty, warmth, love, and steadfast support for each other. Their marriage, while often rocky and real, was an enduring partnership, marked by deep affection and mutual respect. John remains to mourn his irreplaceable loss, holding onto the countless memories and love they shared. 

Much of Kitty’s heart belonged to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and His church. Her quiet presence in the congregation was more than faithful attendance—it was an expression of her faith and a source of strength not only to herself, but to all those who knew her there. Through service and fellowship, Kitty touched the lives of many, ever grateful for the spiritual heritage that helped guide her life. 

For over fifty years, Kitty, a CPA, devoted herself to serving her clients. Many of whom she served for forty plus years. Not having children of her own, her clients were her extended family. Many client discussions about taxes ended with “Kitty, I love you.” And Kitty’s reply “I love you too.”In 2016, God called John into the pastoral ministry. Kitty’s famous reaction was “Let’s go!” Her reply resulted in their being in Pierceville, KS for forty-five months. An experience Kitty often described as “the best forty-five months of our lives.”Kitty’s legacy is defined by love: for her Savior, her family, her husband John, her church, her clients, and her love of the Word of God. While the memories of her smile, her strong personality, and her enduring faith will live on, she leaves behind a world that is forever changed by her presence. Though Kitty’s absence is felt deeply, those who loved her take comfort in knowing that she is in the presence of Jesus, and her memory endures in every life she touched. Her story, both humble and extraordinary, is lovingly remembered by all fortunate enough to have known her. 

Kitty is survived by her husband: John Montgomery, her aunt Sue Perminter (the last of her parent’s generation), her brother Elliott Newman and his wife Susan; niece Angie Savage and fiancé Jeremy Barnett; nephew Daniel Savage and his wife Amy, their children Wyatt, Thatcher, and Hadley; niece Helen Outlaw and her husband Haden, their children Everett, Juliet, Finn, and Callen; nephew Luke Newman and his wife Jessica, and their son Ezra. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorene Newman, father, Felix Newman, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
