Larry David Rapsilver was born on April 29, 1945, in Sealy, Texas to E.F. “Buddy” and Clara Rapsilver. He was called home to his Lord and Savior and to be with the love of his life, Janet Faye, on June 3, 2026.
Larry attended Sealy ISD and graduated in 1963. He attended Blinn College before being called to the service. Larry served in the Army Reserves as a chemical engineer until his honorable discharge.
Larry married Janet Faye Zaskoda on June 24, 1967 in Sealy, Texas, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They became the parents of two children – Carolyn and Charles.
Larry grew up on his parents’ farm in San Felipe, Texas. He learned all he could about raising cattle from his daddy as well as dabbling in carpentry, which he learned from his uncle Ed Rapsilver. Eventually he took over the cattle business. In 1975 Larry began his own construction company. He started out with acoustical work and then later branched out into commercial drywall and various millwork components. His motto was “quality over quantity.” He was good at what he did and taught his crews to be their best. His crews were his second family.
In the 1970’s, Larry’s hobby was stock car racing. He along with Ken and Jerry Christoperson, Paul Seales, and Doug Kubricht started racing in 1974 in their car, which was sponsored by Lilly Dairy Products of Sealy. He continued to be a fan of the sport after his active participation ended.
Larry became a devoted caregiver to Janet throughout her battle with dementia until her death in 2024. The experience took a toll on him, and he was never the same after her passing. Ironically, he began his own bout with dementia. In 2025, he sold his business and concentrated on projects around the house. As his health challenges progressed, Larry decided to enter an assisted living facility. Evergreen Cottages in Katy became his new home until complications from his illness resulted in hospice care until the end of his earthly life.
Larry Rapsilver was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Clara, his wife, Janet Faye, his nephew, Matthew David Rossler, and his brother-in-law, Louis “Honky” Rossler.
To carry on the memories, Larry is survived by his children Carolyn Marie Ritchey (Frank), Charles “Chuck” Rapsilver (Michelle). His grandchildren Nicholas Rapsilver (Autumn), Andrew Rapsilver, Christopher Rapsilver, Meredith “Baby Girl” Rapsilver, and his great-grandchildren Birmingham and Beuchanan Rapsilver. He also leaves his sister Mary Louise Rossler, his nephew Jon Rossler, and other extended family members.
Pallbearers are Chuck Rapsilver, Nicholas Rapsilver, Andrew Rapsilver, Christopher Rapsilver, Jon Rossler (nephew), and Eric Zaskoda (nephew). Honorary Pallbearers are Meredith Rapsilver, Birmingham Rapsilver, and Beuchanan Rapsilver.
