Marc Mathis Flanagan, born on January 29, 1948, in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Katy, Texas, at the age of 78. His journey from the heart of Houston to his final days in Katy was marked by enduring kindness, integrity, and a deep commitment to family.
Marc was the beloved son of the late Homer and Bernice Flanagan. Growing up in Houston, he developed a strong sense of community and family that would continue to guide him throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kerry Flanagan, with whom he shared cherished childhood memories.
Marc is survived by his devoted daughter, Marci Thompson, a source of immense pride and love. His legacy continues through his granddaughters, Charlotte and Ivy Thompson; nieces, Rachel Flanagan and Ashley Greenwood; and his nephews, Kristofer Flanagan and Luke Flanagan, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Marc’s relationships with his family were central to his life, and he was known for his unwavering support, thoughtful counsel, and gentle humor. He treasured family gatherings that brought everyone together and provided comfort and strength in both joyous and challenging times.
Throughout his life, Marc was deeply rooted in Texas. His warmth and integrity touched all who knew him, and he valued the simple moments that built a lifetime of meaningful connections. Whether spending time with his daughter and granddaughters and sharing stories with his friends, Marc carried forward the traditions and values gifted to him by his parents.
The Flanagan family recalls Marc with great affection and gratitude for the years they shared with him. His steadfast presence, kindness, and sincerity leave an indelible mark on all who loved him.
Marc Mathis Flanagan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. His spirit lives on in those he leaves behind, and the memories he made will continue to inspire and bring comfort in the days to come.
