Maria Esther Padro Lizotte, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Sealy, Texas, at the age of 80.
Born on May 19, 1945, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maria was the cherished daughter of German and Maria Agosto Padro. At the age of six, she moved with her family to New York, where she grew up and later graduated from Flushing High School - an accomplishment she was proud to achieve through hard work and determination. In 1980, Maria made Sealy, Texas, her home, where she built a life centered around family, love, and community. On February 22, 1964, Maria married the love of her life, Michael Lizotte. Together they shared many years of marriage, raising a close and loving family until Michael's passing in 1985. Their bond and devotion remained a treasured part of Maria's life.
Maria devoted herself to her family as a homemaker and found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping, garage sales, reading, decorating, playing cards, and drawing. Maria especially loved music and late-night dancing, something she continued to enjoy well into her seventies. She could often be found on Sundays shopping at Walmart (where a shopping trip was always at least a three-hour adventure) and running into friends wherever she went. She always had a smile on her face, and her vibrant personality, loving kindness, and welcoming nature touched everyone who knew her. She was always inviting and never knew a stranger, making everyone feel at home in her presence. More than anything, Maria treasured her relationship with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, both near and far, who brought immense happiness and pride to her life.
She is survived by her children: Lisa Lizotte of Sealy, TX; Michael Lizotte and wife, Normelita, of College Point, New York; Keith Lizotte and Amanda of Cat Spring, TX; and Jennifer Lizotte of Kent, Washington.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Ashley Cryan, Austin Cryan, Andrew Cryan and wife Brittni, Adam Gordon and wife Andrea, Darren Lizotte and wife Maddie, Tania Thiel, Taiden Thiel, Walker Davis, Jomelyn Lizotte, JJ Lizotte, Brittney Lizotte, and Caroline Lizotte.
Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Levi, Haven, Margaux, Ariyah, Koen, Kash, Blakely, Arielle, Hazel, and Hudson.
Maria is also survived by: Her sisters, Raquel Padro and Carmen Hamilton, and her brother, Rafael Padro, along with her sister-in-law, Patricia Lizotte.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, German and Maria Agosto Padro; her husband, Michael Lizotte; her siblings, Carmen Pacheco, Miguel Padro, Norma Figueroa, Juan Adorno, Julio Rodriguez, and Llona Adorno; her brothers-in-law, Anthony Lizotte, Johnny Lizotte, Andrew Lizotte, Frankie Lizotte, and Joseph Lizotte; and her sister-in-law, Denise Lizotte.
Pallbearers are Darren Lizotte, Austin Cryan, Andrew Cryan, Billy Davis, Jeff Brandes, and Joseph Lizotte.
Honorary Pallbearer is Kenneth Adam Gordon.
