Mary Ann Koepke

It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Koepke, a beloved member of the Brookshire, Texas community. Born on December 9, 1952, in Houston, Texas, Mary Ann’s life was marked by her strong faith in God, warmth, dedication to family, and passion for the things she loved. She passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Brookshire, Texas.

Mary Ann was a proud graduate of Spring Branch High School, class of 1972. Her early years were filled with cherished memories, many of which involved fishing excursions with her father—a pastime she held dear throughout her life. It was also during her working years at Academy Sports + Outdoors that she met her devoted husband, Fred Koepke, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership rooted in love and mutual respect.

Those who knew Mary Ann remember her for her strong faith in God and her willingness to share that faith with others. They also remember her exceptional culinary talents and her compassionate heart, which extended beyond her home into her extensive charity work. She loved to go grocery shopping and had an exceptional eye at picking out the best meats and produce, with which she would prepare her recipes. At the grocery store, she would frequently purchase additional groceries to be given to the poor and homeless. She volunteered numerous times at Katy Christian Ministries. It was not uncommon to see her carrying extra water to give to a homeless person on the side of the road, even occasionally buying food for them. She had an abiding love for dogs and horses, sharing her life especially with her loyal canine companion known as "Girlfriend," who was a source of joy and comfort to her.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Fred Koepke; her step-daughter, Georgia Herrera and husband Ray Herrera; her step-son, Patrick Koepke and wife, Elizabeth; her step-granddaughter, Olivia Koepke, her step-grandson, Ray Herrera III; and her brother, Jim Saunders, all of whom will carry forward her spirit and legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, whose memories live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
