Michael Standish Barber passed away on November 3, 2026, in Katy, Texas, surrounded by family. He was born on October 1, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Michael will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, generous heart, and extraordinary desire to help others. He was someone who not only recognized when others needed a helping hand but also possessed the remarkable ability and determination to do something about it. Whether offering his time, his talents, or simply finding a way to make someone’s life a little easier, Michael found genuine joy and purpose in helping those around him.
A gifted, self-taught craftsman, Michael had a passion for woodworking, building, and creating. His natural talent, creativity, and attention to detail allowed him to produce furniture, household pieces, and recreational items of truly professional quality. His craftsmanship was a reflection of the man himself: resourceful, capable, thoughtful, and always willing to put his abilities to good use.
Above all, Michael’s greatest pride and accomplishment was his family, who remained at the center of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lori Barber; his stepchildren, Devin Moore, Ryan Weiche, and Chris Weiche; and his cherished grandchildren, Lily Weiche, Jesse Weiche, Corrine Weiche, and Collin Weiche. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Epperson and John Barber; his sisters, Mary Beth Strayer and Bridgette Barber; and his niece, Sydney Salinas.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Barber; his mother, Bernadette Brunetto; his brother, Joseph Barber; and his nephew, John Barber.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 28102 FM 1093, Fulshear, Texas 77441. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.
A graveside service will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 10471 Grotto Road, Sealy, Texas 77474.
Following the services, family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Michael’s life, poolside at a place where he spent countless happy hours enjoying life, sharing laughter, and surrounding himself with the company of others.
Michael’s legacy lives on not only in the family he loved so dearly, but also in the countless lives he touched, the things he built, the laughter he shared, and the many ways he made life better for others. Michael was a true example of unconditional love, demonstrating through his actions that love is not simply something we feel or say, but something we give freely, without expectation of anything in return. He will be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and forever remembered.
