Paul "Buster" Henschke, a dedicated husband, father, papa, and uncle, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Bellville, Texas. Born on December 27, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, he lived a life rich with devotion to family, community service, and a deep passion for the outdoors. Buster never met a stranger and always had a welcoming smile.
Buster was the beloved son of the late Paul Rudy, Sr. and Norma Jean Johnson Henschke. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Corrigal, and his grandparents, Pappy and Gramma Johnson. His early years were shaped in Buffalo, where he graduated from high school before embarking on a life that blended hard work with heartfelt pleasures.
On February 15, 1974, Buster married Carol Helinski in Buffalo, New York. Together they built a life and family that was grounded in love and mutual respect. The couple made their home in Bellville, Texas, where they owned and operated the J Bar J Ranch and Retreat Center in nearby Sealy.
Throughout his life, Buster was known as an avid outdoorsman, indulging in fishing and hunting, spending cherished hours at the beach, and enjoying the simple pleasures of a beer among friends. He enjoyed country music, hockey, playing the guitar, and most of all spending time with the family. Beyond these interests, he was deeply involved in his community, dedicating time as a driver for Meals on Wheels and serving as the Watchdog at Maci’s school. His allegiance to Texas A&M was a source of pride, where his grandson Paul is an Aggie. Buster’s family and friends remember him as a man of warmth and generosity.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Henschke; his daughters, Becky Hagan and Tennille Lange, wife of Dewayne Lange; and his grandchildren, Paul Hagan and Maci Jean Lange. He also leaves behind his sister, Jean Corrigal; brothers-in-law, Fred and Marlene Helinski, and Dale and Dorothy Hellwig; along with numerous other family members and dear friends who treasured his presence.
Those who wish to honor Buster’s memory may consider supporting Meals on Wheels of Austin County or the Industry Girl Scouts, reflecting his lifelong commitment to giving back.
Pallbearers for the service will be Paul Hagan, Dewayne Lange, Dale Hellwig, Fred Helinski, Bob Lancaster, Stephen Lancaster "Cowboy" Thurman, and Paul Carronna.
Honorary pallbearers include Phillip Lancaster, Stephen Tusznio, David Lange, Jason Schulz, Brian Tusznio, Danny Duron, and Odis Styers.
Buster passed surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a profound love for the land and people around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
