Peggy Estella Monigold

Peggy Estella Oliver Monigold of Katy, Texas passed away on July 31, 2025 at the age of 92.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Peggy lived a life filled with faith, resilience, and a deep devotion to her family. She was born on November 16, 1932 in Trenton, Texas, to Sidney Horace Oliver and Darcie Joanna “Dot” Robins Oliver.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ralph Monigold; her brother, Morris Oliver and his wife Beverly; and grandson Allen Monigold. Despite her losses, Peggy remained a pillar of strength and warmth for those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Lora Ann Monigold Robinson and husband Michael; grandsons Kemp Monigold ( Holly), Karl Monigold (Birgit), Cory Choate (Natalie); and her great-grandsons, Garrin Monigold, Zachery Monigold, Nickolas Monigold, Christian Monigold, Easton Choate, and great-granddaughter, Ellie Choate.

Peggy also leaves behind her sister Patsy Joanna Oliver Jordan (Lyle) along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and treasured friends who brought joy to her long and vibrant life.

Peggy began her young married life on the prairies of the Katy rice fields where she perfected her homemaking skills and began her family. She and her former husband, R.G. “Nicky” Monigold later moved to Bracketville, Texas where she managed the club at Fort Clark. After a few years in Bandera, Texas she returned to Katy and opened a frame shop on Highway 90 which quickly became not only a well-known business in the area but also a social gathering spot. Friends and customers could always find a cup of coffee and a pleasant conversation.

Peggy’s hands were never idle. She was generous with her time and talents and embodied love in action. Her family looked forward to her gifts of cakes and pies on their birthdays and holidays. If someone needed a dress or a costume, she volunteered. A willing participant in any adventure, if Peggy was involved it was sure to be filled with laughter due to her quick wit and mischievous nature. She enjoyed cruises with her friend and cousin, Cora Lea Davis, and camping with her daughter and her family but also rejoiced in a normal day with her dogs, cat, and watching the thousands of hummingbirds that would visit her feeders each year.

A woman of wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith, Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and priceless memories.
