Ruperto Lazo, a cherished resident of Bellville, Texas, passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on February 1, 1952, in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico, Ruperto grew up in La Enstancia, where his roots laid the foundation for a life dedicated to his family and community. He had a notable career in construction, where he was recognized as a great carpenter. Ruperto's craftsmanship was not only indicative of his skills but also of his passion for creating and building. He combined his professional achievements with a richly fulfilling personal life, deeply cherishing the time he spent with his family and friends.Ruperto married the love of his life, Gloria Alvarez, on September 14, 1980, in La Quemada, Guanajuato.
Together, they created a loving home for their children: Maricela (Cesain) Lazo of Kyle, Alma (Gregory) Garcia of Bellville, Francisco J. (Mary Rice) Lazo of Hempstead, and Daniel (Deanna) Lazo of Chesapeake, Virginia. He prided himself on being a devoted husband and a loving father, instilling in his eleven grandchildren the values of hard work and kindness. Outside of his professional life, Ruperto was an outgoing individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time in nature, taking care of his animals, and indulging in bird watching. His hobbies included listening to music, working outside, and reading books, all of which brought him peace and happiness. One of Ruperto's unique passions was making rosaries, a craft that provided him with a deep sense of fulfillment. His ability to find beauty in these creations mirrored the affection he held for his family and the connections he nurtured within his community. Ruperto was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Placida Rangel Lazo, whose legacies lived on in the values they instilled in him.
His family and friends will gather to honor his memory with a visitation at Schmidt Funeral Home - Bellville on October 20, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated in his honor at St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church in Hempstead on October 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a graveside service to follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
