Ruth Anne Talley-Johnson
June 23, 1965 – November 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ruth Anne Talley-Johnson, who died in her sleep on November 12, 2025. Born in Pasadena, Texas on June 23, 1965, Ruth is known to her friends, family and acquaintances as warmly welcoming and generous with a smile and a big hug. She loved her family, countless close friends, cherished pets, but no one more than her husband, Stephen L. Johnson, whom she married on October 24, 1992 at Richie Street Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Just last month they celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary together with close friends in Fredericksburg and Luckenbach, Texas.
Ruth grew up in Pasadena, Texas and attended Richie Street Baptist Church. She was a 1983 graduate of Pasadena High School. She also graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in consumer science. It was during her time at U of H that she met the love of her life. She had joined the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and served as a “little sister” to the Sigma Nu fraternity, to which Stephen belonged. They met at a fraternity function and that was that… they dated until he proposed to her at Vargo’s restaurant in a beautiful garden gazebo with colorful peacocks nearby.
Ruth spent the majority of her career in management, mainly in retail. Most recently, she was a Marketing Coordinator working in the Welcome Center at Elyson helping families find the perfect neighborhood. Ruth loved to be surrounded by friends and family, and she adored dancing with Stephen to country and western music. She had excellent taste and loved fashion, and she had a gift for baking. Ruth loved orchids and had quite the knack in getting them to rebloom. In her spare time, she enjoyed antiquing, good Tex-Mex and margaritas. Ruth had a deep appreciation of nature, noticing everything – flowers, butterflies, all of God’s creation.
Ruth’s favorite place was Bellville and the ranch home she shared with Stephen. She also loved Fredericksburg and the hill country. And they enjoyed special vacations to Hawaii and the occasional cruise.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Stephen L. Johnson of Bellville, Texas. Her brother, Danny Donaldson, and his wife Imelda Donaldson of Baytown, Texas. Her sister, Nancy Lyman, and her husband John Lyman of Pasadena, Texas. Her sister-in-law, Stasa Johnson Cushman, and her husband, Michael Cushman.
Ruth adored and doted on her nieces and nephews, “Aunt Ruthie” was one of her most favorite nicknames and making every milestone important and special was her joy. Her nephew and nieces are Ryan Donaldson of Fannett, Texas, Chrystal Donaldson Hein of Fannett, Texas, and Nina Cushman of Houston, Texas.
