Walter Claude Kennon, a beloved figure and a devoted man to his Pattison and Brookshire communities, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 in Katy, Texas. Born on August 31, 1942 in Cleburne, Texas, Walter's journey through life was marked by his warmth and unwavering spirit, qualities that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Walter's educational pursuits began at Cleburne High School, Class of 1960, after which he embraced a passion for civil engineering. In 1964, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University where he not only honed his skills, but also laid the groundwork for a successful 40-year career with Austin Bridge & Road Company.
In addition to his professional achievements, Walter was known for his generous heart and willingness to lend a helping hand. He dedicated countless hours volunteering for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, sharing his love for agriculture and cattle with those around him. Farming was more than a hobby for Walter; it was a passion that deeply connected him to the land and the animals he cherished.
Walter is survived by his son, Jeff Kennon, daughter-in-law, Paige Kennon, and grandchildren, Krista, Justin, and Joshua Kennon. Walter's commitment to his loved ones, generosity of spirit, and the love he shared will forever resonate in the hearts of many.
He reunites with his beloved parents, John and Claudia Kennon, and his brothers, John and Ronny Kennon, who preceded him in death. Together, they are now at rest with their love serving as a guiding light for those they left behind.
Walter Claude Kennon will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories shared, the lessons imparted, and the love woven through the lives he touched. His laughter, kindness, and the warmth of his soul will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with this extraordinary man.
