Wayne E Duhon

Wayne Errol Duhon was born in Lake Charles, LA on January 24,1943. He died on August 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his Wife of 63 years, Neta Marlene Duhon, of Pattison, TX, his son and daughter-in-law, Mark Wayne and Kimberly Dee Duhon, of Bourbonnais, IL, and his daughter and son-in-law, Kristine Renee and William Edward Winegar, of Pattison, TX.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Joseph and Mersie Marie Duhon of Lafayette, LA and his sister, Elaine Marie Green of Dallas, TX.

On earth, Wayne dedicated his life to reaching the lost. He was loved by so many.

Wayne left for Ozark Bible College in August of 1961.

This is where he met and married his sweetheart, Marlene (Mari), in February of 1963.

He had student ministries in Buckhorn, Missouri; Faulkner, Kansas; and then in Chetopa, Kansas; where he served full time, for a year, after graduation.

From there, he and Marlene moved to Orange, Texas where he started a church in a tent. A building was eventually built, and they served there for 5 years.

Lake Charles, Louisiana was the next move and they served the church there for 2 years.

In 1972 the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee and served at Raleigh Christian Church for 8 years.

Then, in 1980, another move took them to Houston, Texas, where they served at Western Meadows Christian Church for 13 years, until 1992.

In 1992 Wayne became part of World Mission Builders and moved to London, England as Marlene’s company wanted her there.

As part of World Mission Builders, Wayne ministered in England, Switzerland, Germany, New Guinea, Mexico, Australia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Russia. He assisted in the building of many churches in the Philippines – on the islands of Luzon, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Mindanao and Lete. He also built churches in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

He assisted in the construction of over 375 church buildings worldwide during the course of his ministry as a missionary.

Wayne had many hobbies and interests. He was a private pilot, an avid hunter, a riveting storyteller and a prolific gun and knife collector. He also loved being a Husband to Marlene, a Dad to Kris and Mark, a Grandpapa to Kirk, Lindsey, Blake, Jake and Ben and Great Grandpapa to Finley.

But his greatest hobby and his most important interest was talking about and promoting his Savior, Jesus Christ. So much so, that even on his death bed he was still evangelizing.

We must remember that the bible says, “to be absent from the body is to be with the Lord.” Wayne would often quote the saying, “Do you really believe that what you believe is really real? If you do, then those of us who follow Christ have nothing to fear. We should be comforted in our passing from death to eternal life. Wayne was ready to go Home. The Apostle Paul said it this way for those who died in Christ…

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
