Wesley Weems Williams III, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s on August 27, 2025 at his home in Katy, Texas.
Born on September 24, 1942 in Midland, Texas to Wesley W. Williams Jr. and Vondell (Davis) Williams, Wes grew up in the country where he raised prize steer for 4H, played football and met the love of his life, Sheila Turner. After graduating from Stanton High School, Wes earned a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University. A four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force took him to Arizona and then Taiwan where he was a Captain. Upon returning home he settled with Sheila and their two young daughters in Midland and began a successful career as a CPA.
His job took him to Denver where he and his family lived for 11 years. Wes and Sheila loved the mountains and took every opportunity they could to head up I70 to Frisco or Vail. Eventually he left public accounting and went to work for Shell Oil in Houston where he lived for the next 36 years.
Wes was a faithful Christian and a committed and devoted member of his church. He was an active deacon and in leadership in his Sunday school classes and prayer ministry. He loved his friends and his church community. After retirement Wes continued to serve within his church and he and Sheila enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with their grandchildren.
Wes is survived by Sheila, his beloved wife of 62 years; his daughters Shannah (Brian) and Michelle (Cliff); his sisters Pam and Tracie; his grandchildren Elissa (Alec), Cole, Libby, Alison, Audrey (Vincent) and Maeve; his great grandchildren Waylon and Cora; his brother-in-law Mark; and his nephews Eric, Mark Alan, Jeffrey, Justin, Andrew, Joshua and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Alton and Imogene, his sister-in-law Debbie, his brothers-in-law Steve and Dave and his nephew, Jared.
A private service and burial will be at the VA National Cemetery of Houston. If you wish to honor Wes, please consider a donation to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. https://curealz.org/giving/donate/
