Bellville

William David Bedell, Jr., of Bellville, Texas, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Bellville. He was born on February 4, 1942, in Houston, Texas.

Born to William David Bedell, Sr. and Dorothy Ferrell Bedell, William grew up and lived in Houston until 1980, when he moved to Bellville and spent the rest of his life there. He built his working life as a welder and maintenance tech for Cameron Iron Works.

He later worked as a maintenance tech for Jones Finke Construction and as a truck driver for Koy Concrete and Johnston Pump/Flow Technologies. All of these roles reflected his steady nature and strong work ethic.

David found enjoyment in working, reading, and spending time with his family. He also dearly loved his cat, Ophelia, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness. Among the accomplishments that meant the most in his life was his service as a leader in Alcoholics Anonymous for over 40 years, offering guidance, example, and encouragement to many over the decades.

He is survived by his son Wesley Bedell, his daughter Kristen Scott, the mother of his children, Linda Garrett, his grandchildren Stephanie, Shea, Camryn, and Lexi, and his sister, Ferrell Pond, and husband Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his father, William David Bedell, Sr., and his mother, Dorothy Ferrell Bedell.

William will be remembered with love by his family and by all who knew him through his work, his daily routines, and his long commitment to helping others. His life was one of perseverance, care, and quiet devotion, and his memory will be cherished.
